Garvit Galgat

Software Engineer, OracleCo-founder, PanOphIIT IndoreBengaluru, India

I build reliable backend systems and products end to end.

At Oracle, I improve the performance, security, and reliability of a distributed directory platform. I also co-founded PanOph, an ophthalmology learning platform for residents with 165 paying customers, and built it end to end on weekends.

Open to startup product, full-stack, and backend roles. PanOph is built and in learners’ hands, and needs only occasional input from me, so a new role gets my full focus.

I lead the technical side and am its only engineer: the web and mobile apps, the API, and the review, admin, creator, and image-contribution tools behind them.

HOW IT WORKSFrom a reviewer’s knowledge to a student’s study screen.
  1. Reviewers create content

Reviewers turn clinician-written PDFs into checked lessons. Contributors add teaching images.

    Review app + Image Vault · Next.js

  2. Content is published

Reviewed content is released to the shared library, ready for students to study.

Workers API · R2 content storage

  3. Students study

Students read, practise, and return to their learning on web or mobile.

    • Sign inOne identity across apps · Firebase Auth
    • Access a subscriptionWeb payments · Razorpay
      Mobile purchases · RevenueCat
    • Keep learning progressProgress and access records · D1 database
  • Built what users asked for. Grew it from a surgical-decision simulator to a paid launch in two months by adding topic guides, drug references, and past papers. Approximately 100 daily users as of September 2026.
  • Content pipeline. Turns 350+ topic PDFs co-written by clinicians into live lessons through staged, fail-closed steps: deterministic extraction, reviewer-confirmed structure, and one small model task per block. AI then checks each claim against sources before a clinician approves it, on a self-hosted job queue that survives dropped connections.
  • Self-healing billing. Webhooks, an on-demand check, and a 30-minute reconciliation job share one idempotent apply step, so missed or duplicate Razorpay events recover automatically. Upgrades confirm the new UPI mandate before cancelling the old one, preventing double charges.
  • Offline-first sync. Cut database writes by 80% (about 50K → 10K rows a day) with a batched outbox that works offline, deduplicates resent operations, and stops stale devices from undoing newer changes.
  • Growth. Creator referrals with payouts, a library of 500+ images from 40+ clinicians, a pricing page rebuilt around free samples after user feedback, and a 9K+ Instagram audience (@pan.oph).

Oracle Unified Directory

About Oracle Unified Directory

SINCE JUN 2023

I work on a distributed directory platform used in enterprise deployments, spanning replication, availability, security, database-backed performance, and platform migration.

  • Replication. Designed and delivered one-way replication with per-suffix control, a new feature for disaster-recovery sites, from customer requirements through release. It now runs in an enterprise customer’s production.
  • Failover. Rebuilt proxy failover around multithreaded backend recovery, cutting an enterprise customer’s recovery after backend restarts from 150 s to 15 s. The old path checked backends one at a time.
  • Security. Remediated 9 critical and high-severity vulnerabilities (CVSS up to 9.9), including remote code execution, injection, and path traversal, reproducing each with a proof-of-concept exploit and confirming the fix blocked it.
  • Database-backed performance. Added a server-side row limit after unbounded searches over a 98M-row view exhausted a customer’s JVM heap. Enforced in SQL, oversized results never reach memory.
  • Platform migration. Owned the Java 8 → 17 migration for the OUD 14c release: replaced removed Java EE dependencies and JVM flags, fixed a startup crash in version detection, and built the upgrade path for 12c installations.
  • AI-driven QA. Automated the team’s functional tests with an AI-driven pipeline that runs on every fix and enhancement: when something breaks, it traces the failure to the change that caused it and spawns agents to fix it. I also mentor junior engineers.
  • Correctness. Fixed dynamic-group searches that silently returned about a third of members, tracing the fault to nested-group logic.

TELECRAFT LABS · LEAD DEVELOPER

A multilingual text-to-video generation platform.

JAN 2025FEB 2025

Keeping a character recognizable across generated scenes was a central challenge. I built a pipeline that reused character context and combined generated images, multilingual narration, and video composition.

HOW IT WORKSFrom a written story to a finished video.
  1. Submit a story

The user chooses a story, language, voice, and visual style.

    Web app · Firebase sign-in

  2. Generate scenes & narration

The story becomes scene images and spoken narration, with character details reused between scenes.

API Lambda · ImagineArt · ElevenLabs

  3. Assemble the video

Images and narration are combined with music and transitions.

    VideoGen Lambda · FFmpeg

  4. Get the finished video

The video is saved and its link is attached to the user’s project.

S3 video storage · Project database

  • Story to video. Built a platform that turns a written story into a narrated video, with consistent characters across generated scenes, narration in 10+ languages, music, and transitions.
  • Audience. The platform published 80+ videos on YouTube, accumulating 15K+ views.
  • Infrastructure cost. Cut monthly infrastructure cost 95% ($120 → $6) by replacing an always-on EC2 server with event-driven AWS Lambda jobs, S3 storage, and CloudWatch monitoring.
