A multiplayer chess platform built by an IITISoC team

I mentored a team building an online chess platform for IIT Indore Summer of Code 2021. After taking part in IITISoC as a learner, this was a chance to help another team build its project.

Playing together

Players could create a room, join a friend, or find another player for a live game. Socket.IO carried moves between the two browsers.

Beyond the chessboard

The application included accounts, player profiles, and Elo ratings. The backend checked chess moves before accepting them, while MongoDB stored player data.
